Chouffe N'Ice with winter scene with the Chouffe gnomes in front of the chapel of St. Joseph
|
Detailed Description
The scene depicted on the glass features a typical winter vista of the village of Achouffe with the chapel of St. Joseph and the brewery in the background. The beer itself, N'Ice Chouffe, is a vintage dated Belgian barley wine is a deep dark winter warmer. It offers a rich malty taste, spicy [thyme] and fruity [dried grapes] aroma and a complex vinous fruity palate, which is complimented by malt overtones.
At the end of the seventies, two brothers-in-law, Pierre Gobran and Chris Bauweraerts, decided to create their own beer in their own brewery. With little money initially committed (5,000 USD), they started what fans of the brewery call a "Chouffe Story". Each year around 6,000 tourists come to visit Brasserie d'Achouffe, numbers which are limited by comfort. They serve incredible food which is cooked using their own beer in their restaurant-pub adjacent to the brewery.
